Herb Rice will introduce you to the art of
knife making and care. We will look at
the different types of wood available and discuss how to prepare and use
them. The intro course will deal with basic technique and design concept. Using traditional bent knives as well as straight knives, you will get a good grasp of the North West Coast carving techniques as you carve.
Some work will have to be done at home to finish off your carving, but you will learn all the cuts needed during class. All tools and materials will be provided.
Limber your fingers up and do some strengthening exercises, it takes up a lot more energy then you may think.
